ABOUT ME

Hailing from Calicut in Kerala, I am one of the many techies that call Bangalore a home now. But what makes me different? I love, adore, and is absolutely captivated by the charming world of photography. Well, not so different as you thought I would be, huh? I am. Trust me on this one...

I started photographing in my late teens (and that isn't many years ago!). I started out with my brother's Sony Point and Shoot Camera with simple things around me. Leaves, twigs, flowers, candles, coins, water droplets, and what not! And then, Facebook helped me. No, not just to widen my connections. But it was slowly becoming that time where Facebook profile photos HAD to look good. And who did my friends go to? ME! That was how I moved on to clicking actual people. And by then, what had started off as a hobby had slowly, but steadily become my passion. I wouldn't say it wasn't difficult to sustain the initial enthusiasm. But the beauty these wonderful machines delivered just kept me going.

Before I knew it, every 4th person had a DSLR. Everybody had become a photographer. I couldn't afford to buy a new camera for myself. So, guess what? I turned the situation around to work in my favour. I would borrow cameras from my kind friends and would go clicking. I uploaded an album on my Facebook page and more and more people started telling me that I was good. I cannot start to put in words the pure joy and confidence the comments my friends, family and people I did not even know existed till then gave me.
It opened a world of possibilities. I progressed from Facebook profile pictures to studio shoots for magazines. I also started doing fashion photography. I covered weddings, parties, and basically any event that required a photographer (a little exaggeration, but hey!). Meanwhile, my friend and I started this venture called 'Oh! For the Love of Dogs' which focussed exclusively on pet photography. Working with non-verbal living things is a challenge, I can guarantee you that (anybody who thinks otherwise will have to come down and prove it to me.) Experiences count, and I will be lying if I tell you that I did not enjoy them.

So all of this is happening and then, I land an 8 hour job. No no, not in photography. But this was steady income. I got to travel and fell in love with images that I clicked then. And then what? Yes, I bought my very own DSLR. The feeling is inexplicable. My very own camera that I guard with my life.

So what I am trying to tell you is that in the short term that I've found my love for photography, I have not stopped clicking things that come my way. Correction: I haven't stopped finding things/moments to click. As Tony Benn says "Photography is a moment of embarrassment and a lifetime of pleasure", the pleasure, mine and hopefully yours too.
